None of us enjoy mosquitoes! We don't like being bitten by these pesky bugs but very few of us take the necessary precautions to keep them away. Aside from just covering yourself with a bug repellent when you plan to be outdoors, there are quite a few simple steps you can take to avoid getting bitten by mosquitoes this year.
There is nothing quite like a summer night in your backyard. Cookouts, s’mores roasting over the fire, children laughing and playing– dreamy! But the mosquitoes. Those dreadful, blood-sucking, pesky bugs. Somehow, they can make the perfect evening unenjoyable. And if you get bit by one, expect to get bit by several.
Be prepared Mosquito season starts slowly in the spring, peaks in the summer, and tapers off into fall. Cooler temperatures, football, get-togethers outside--what’s not to love? Unfortunately, just because it’s fall doesn’t mean we’re safe from mosquitoes--they’ll stick around for a little bit until the temperatures start to cool down drastically.
Now that summer is approaching, our worst outdoor enemy will be back with a vengeance. That’s right, mosquitoes. They swarm your barbecues and evening porch-sitting, invade your home, whine incessantly in your ears, steal your blood and leave behind an itchy reminder of their deed. Most of us know mosquitoes are a nuisance, but hating them for that just isn’t enough.
Most Kentucky lawns are seeded with Kentucky bluegrass and turf-type tall fescue grasses, high summer heat can spell trouble for our cool-season lawn grasses. There are warm season grasses such as buffalograss and Zoysia.
